Police and MyGeneration Community Cup Event
This is a yearly competition run in partnership with Kensington and Chelsea Police.
This event is designed to be a fun day with a serious anti-crime message. It acts
as one of our community cohesion days in which we seek to bring together all the
different groups that make up our community so they interact with the police in an
entirely positive manner. The whole event is to break down the suspicion between the
police and minority communities.
Family Fun Day
This is a large event where we celebrate the family and incorporate sport through
organised activities. There is a carnival atmosphere which promotes celebration and
interaction of the community. As well as a five-a-side football tournament, we offer
tasty food, live music, games, a bouncy castle and face painting.
Both of these events are used to push our lifestyle agenda of good diet, education,
community and personal safety.
Who are our Stakeholders and What is our Timing?
Firstly it is society as a whole, and families rich and poor. The world is so linked today.
We must all take responsibility, both long- and short- term. Societys current problems
took years to create and it will take years, and generations, to achieve significant
change and progress. However, there are plenty of short-term, tactical efforts that can
have an immediate impact and lead to sustainable change. We will look to identify and
implement such programs in the short-term, while always working toward the longterm
goal of building self-supporting, sustainable, and effective communities from
within.
Shaun Bailey, co-founder of the charity, comments:
‘It is clear that the strongest groups in society are those who do not
live a deprived dependant life managed by outside forces.’
‘MyGeneration’s existence is a practical expression of our intention
to help build a sense of positive community which is lacking in
some parts of our society. It is incredibly hard to make a difference
in somebody’s life and it takes time and dedication. This is why
we should empower people to develop the skills for their families
because there is a benefit for them because when you advocate for
your children, you are fulfilling your role as a parent and this
greatly lifts your self esteem.’ |
